Matthew Gipson

Bio
Matthew S. Gipson is a partner at Williams & Gipson Law Firm in Decatur, Texas, where his practice focuses on personal injury and criminal defense. With more than a decade of experience as a trial lawyer, Mr. Gipson represents people injured through the negligence of others as well as individuals facing serious criminal charges.
Together with his law partner, Steven M. Williams, whose legal career spans more than 45 years, Williams & Gipson brings more than 55 years of combined legal experience to its clients. Mr. Gipson is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Mr. Gipson began his legal career in Oregon as a prosecutor with the Marion County District Attorney's Office. That experience provided him with an inside understanding of how cases are investigated, evaluated, negotiated, and presented to a jury. He later entered private practice as a criminal defense attorney and became a partner at a prominent Oregon criminal defense firm with its principal office in Salem, Oregon.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gipson has represented clients in more than 30 counties and has tried more than 50 criminal cases to juries. His trial experience ranges from DWI and domestic violence cases to sexual assault, manslaughter, and homicide. He also served as lead defense counsel in a Portland-area murder prosecution that ultimately resulted in a resolution for the substantially lesser offense of Criminally Negligent Homicide.
After returning to his home state of Texas, Mr. Gipson joined Steven M. Williams at Williams & Gipson Law Firm. His practice includes representing people injured in automobile and commercial-vehicle collisions, premises-liability incidents, and other cases involving the negligence of individuals, businesses, and governmental entities. He handles personal-injury matters from the initial investigation and insurance claim through litigation when a fair resolution cannot be reached.
Mr. Gipson brings the same trial-focused approach to his personal-injury practice that he developed in the courtroom. He works to establish liability, document his clients' injuries and damages, identify weaknesses before an insurance company can exploit them, and prepare each case with the understanding that it may ultimately have to be presented to a jury.
Mr. Gipson and his wife, Krystal, are proud to call Wise County home, where they are raising their family. He is a Past President of the Decatur Lions Club and a member of First Baptist Church Decatur.
